Adrian Pivott-Dyer is a Black Student Support Psychotherapist at the University of Waterloo. He holds a Bachelor of Theology and a Master of Divinity (M.Div.) in Clinical Counselling. His career spans mental health, higher education, faith communities, and youth advocacy, reflecting a lifelong commitment to serving individuals and communities with compassion and purpose.
Before entering the mental health profession, Adrian trained as a welder and plumber in Trinidad and Tobago. That foundation in skilled trades instilled a practical, hands-on approach to service that continues to shape his grounded, community-first leadership.
Since 2015, Adrian has led Black affinity spaces for youth and has worked extensively across churches, missionary initiatives, educational institutions, and nonprofit organizations, building trusted relationships and creating opportunities for communities that are too often underserved.
While serving as Director of Programming and Outreach at the University of Waterloo, Adrian developed Sankofa Pathways to University, an initiative designed to create stronger and more accessible pathways into higher education for Black students. In addition to his work at the University, he serves as a community psychotherapist supporting the Boys’ Mental Health Campaign in Kitchener, where he works to reduce stigma, promote healing, and expand access to culturally responsive mental health care for young men.
Adrian brings together clinical expertise, strategic program development, faith-informed leadership, and deep community engagement. His extensive network, collaborative spirit, and commitment to meaningful action make him a valuable member of the Board of Directors of Beyond The Call 24/7, where he supports the organization’s mission to advance healing, advocacy, and hope for individuals and communities affected by trafficking, homelessness, addiction, abuse, and mental health challenges.
