Steelpan Artist | Educator | Cultural Ambassador
Born into Trinidad and Tobago’s extraordinary steelpan tradition, Earl Brooks Jr. is an internationally recognized pannist, arranger, educator, and cultural ambassador whose artistry has carried the sound and spirit of the Caribbean across the world.
Earl began playing steelpan at just three years old. By age five, he was already performing at major cultural events and competitions, including Pan Ramajay and appearances at the President’s Residence in Trinidad and Tobago. His early development included performing with The Music Makers under renowned educator Merle Albino-de Coteau and learning alongside his father and mentor, acclaimed pannist Earl Brooks Sr.
His career has since taken him across North America, Europe, Africa, Asia, and the Middle East. As a member of Exodus Steel Orchestra, Earl toured extensively, including performances throughout Japan and Europe. He has performed alongside celebrated artists including Dr. Len “Boogsie” Sharpe, Etienne Charles, Arturo Tappin, Mungal Patasar, Cheryl Pepsii Riley, Frankie McIntosh, and Ray Angry. His international appearances have also included Senegal, Bob Marley’s 75th birthday celebration at Hope Road in Jamaica, and six months performing during Expo 2020 Dubai.
Beyond the stage, Earl is deeply committed to education and creating opportunities for the next generation. In 2020, he established Brooks Arts Academy to educate, mentor, and create pathways for young musicians pursuing careers in music.
Through performance, education, and cultural storytelling, Earl continues to champion the steelpan as more than an instrument. It is a powerful expression of Caribbean heritage, identity, resilience, and community.
At BTC 2026 HEAL & RISE, Earl brings that spirit to an evening centered on Youth & Women’s Mental Health, reminding us that music can transcend borders, preserve heritage, create connection, and become part of the journey toward healing.
