Joel Ryan Gillette

Joel Ryan is a dynamic and results-driven leader with expertise in Organizational Development, Leadership, Hospitality Management, Training and Development, and Entertainment Management. With 25 years of experience, Joel has successfully implemented policies and procedures to improve organizational effectiveness, increase key performance indicators (KPIs), and bring structure and credibility to various areas, including Human Resources, Communications, and Hospitality Management and Logistics.

As the Corporate Director of Entertainment at Sandals Resorts International from September 2006 to April 2023, Joel led the successful opening of multiple resorts and managed a significant budget. He also played a key role in re-aligning HR priorities, redesigning job descriptions, and streamlining processes to achieve KPIs at a larger scale. Joel has extensive experience in leadership development programs for sustainable development and organizational efficiency in the public sector, as well as regionally and internationally.

Prior to Sandals Resorts International, Joel worked as the Shore Excursion Manager at Disney Cruise Line, where he significantly increased Shore Excursions revenues and trained third-party operators across various locations. He also collaborated with directors from multiple countries to meet the demands of the 21st-century tourism and hospitality industry.

Joel’s career includes his role as a Peer Educator at the National AIDS Programme in Trinidad and Tobago, where he led efforts in data collection and designed workshops to train workers on HIV/AIDS and STDs transmission.

Joel holds an MBA in International Business Administration from the University of The West Indies, a Master of Arts in Creative Leadership from the Berlin School of Creative Leadership, and a Bachelor of Arts from Revan’s University. He has also obtained various certifications and training, including those from Disney.

With a strong skill set encompassing results-based management, leadership development, financial forecasting, and more, Joel Ryan continues to make significant contributions in his field.
