Stephanie Borkowski is a contemporary painter whose work examines resilience, identity, and transformation through emotionally charged figurative imagery. Working primarily in oil, she creates layered compositions that balance vulnerability with strength, intimacy with tension, and personal narrative with universal themes.
Shaped by life experiences across Philadelphia, New York, and Los Angeles, Borkowski’s practice draws from urban energy, human psychology, and the process of rebuilding through adversity. Her paintings explore the unseen emotional landscapes people carry beneath the surface, expressed through gesture, movement, and atmosphere.
At the heart of Borkowski’s work is an exploration of what people carry but do not always reveal: grief, resilience, desire, fear, tenderness, memory, and the instinct to survive. Her interest in the inner architecture of emotion gives her work a particularly meaningful connection to conversations surrounding healing and the human experience.
Her work is held in private collections, and she is currently developing a new body of work for an upcoming solo presentation.
